Funeral services for Frank Barton Mitchell of Marietta, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Finley Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery, in Marietta. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Marietta.

Frank was born in Marietta, on June 26, 1936, the son of H.H. and Gladys Marion Mitchell. He passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta, at the age of 82.

Frank married Anita June Cochran on Feb. 4, 1961, in Durant. He worked at the Vickers Refinery in Ardmore, for several years and later took a job with Fish Construction which made him instrumental in the construction of the gas plant in Love’s Valley. He later worked as a carpenter building cabinets and doing other types of woodwork. Frank loved hunting in his younger years and as time went by, his passion turned to fishing. He loved fish fries and camping at the lake with family and friends. Frank was a storyteller who loved visiting with friends and telling jokes. He spent a great deal of his spare time reading Western books and watching Westerns on TV. Frank also enjoyed watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. His most cherished time was spent sitting on the front porch visiting with family.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Dolores McMillin and Loretta Willis.

Survivors include his wife, June Mitchell of the home; two sons, Paul Mitchell and Terry Mitchell, both of Marietta; two sisters, Barbara Eppler and husband Loyd of Madill, and Betty Rhoades and husband Mike of Edmond; two brothers-in-law, Ben Willis and wife Gloria and Jerry Cochran and wife Alice, all of Marietta; an aunt, Bea Davis of Greenville, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Serving as casket bearers will be Ricky McMillin, Brandon McMillin, Barton McMillin, Todd Hicks, Curtis Willis, and John Thompson. Honorary bearers are Gus Tolleson, Robert “Bub” Williams, Chuck Slimp, Joe Davis, Vance Parr, Gail Hilton, Fred Grice, and all other members of the Marietta Church of Christ.

Visitation will be held for family and friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Frank’s name be made to the Marietta Church of Christ.
