Young Women’s Christian Association of Southern Oklahoma and Good Shepherd Medical and Dental Clinic Foundation have been selected as finalists in the 2009 Oklahoma Nonprofit Excellence “ONE” Awards.
The two Ardmore agencies are among 27 nonprofit organizations named as finalists by the The Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits.
The group named the top three finalists in nine award categories. Good Shepherd Medical and Dental Clinic Foundation was selected as a semifinalist in the Community Health Services category. Young Women’s Christian Association of Southern Oklahoma is a semifinalist in the Self-Sufficiency category.
The winners in each of the nine categories will receive $7,500 and two finalists in each of the nine categories will receive $5,000.
One of the nine category winners will be selected as the overall winner and will receive $10,000 for their organization. A total of $160,000 will be given to outstanding ONE Award winners and finalists.
The awards will be announced April 25 at the Renaissance Hotel in Tulsa. The event will include cocktails, a seated dinner, a special awards ceremony and a video presentation highlighting the winning nonprofit organizations.
Center officials said awards recognize excellence and inspiration to other nonprofit groups striving for the same outstanding performance. This is the second year the center will present the ONE awards.
A total of 93 organizations were nominated. The 27 finalists were selected by the ONE Awards Selection Commission.
The criteria for selection was being one of the three best among all similar nonprofit organizations worthy of receiving this statewide acknowledgement of excellence in the nonprofit community.
Tickets to the awards event are now on sale for $150. To purchase tickets or for sponsorship information, contact Dana Wilkes at (918) 579-1910 or dwilkes@oklahomacenterfornonprofits.org.
