An 18-year-old Ardmore man, charged in February with stealing and concealing women’s underwear was sentenced Wednesday in district court.
It was Jeremy J. Dula’s second appearance before District Judge Tom Walker. In April, Dula pleaded guilty to the charges and was ordered into the state’s Youthful Offender’s Program. The program completed, Dula appeared before Walker for his final ruling in the case Wednesday morning.
After listening to testimony, Walker recessed court while he deliberated. He returned to the courtroom and ordered Dula to serve a five-year deferred sentence, but stipulated the first 60 days of the sentence was to be served in the county jail. He will then be placed under the direction of probation and parole.
Dula was also ordered to provide 200 hours of community service. In addition, he is to complete an Oklahoma Department of Corrections-approved impulse-disorder program designed to assist him in controlling fetishism.
The judge did grant Dula a 10-day postponement before surrendering him to the sheriff. He is to appear at the Carter County Detention Center on Oct. 10 to begin serving his sentence.
Following the hearing, District Attorney Craig Ladd called Walker’s sentence “appropriate.”
Dula was charged following an Ardmore Police Department investigation a year ago that resulted in formal allegations he burglarized a home in a northwest Ardmore neighborhood by forcing open a “doggie door” and then unlocking a sliding-glass patio door. Once inside the residence, the charges accused him of stealing women’s underwear and brassieres. The two counts of knowingly concealing stolen property allege Dula was also in possession of a number of other stolen pieces of women’s underwear and brassieres.
Dula was 17 at the time of the crimes. He turned 18 shortly after his arrest and was certified to face the charges as an adult.
