Ardmore, OK —

Another area company has announced layoffs, following recent employee cutbacks at Michelin, East Jordan Iron Works and CM Trailers of Madill.

Shenita Jones, human resources director at V.E. Enterprises, said Monday the Springer company laid off 26 employees last week.

She said the majority were employed as welders or maintenance workers. More than 200 employees remain after the layoffs, Jones said.

V.E. Enterprises produces a variety of liquid storage tanks, vacuum trailers, bobtails and roll-offs. The company recently completed approximately $1.1 million in upgrades to its facilities.

Jones said everyone who lost their jobs will be placed on a six-month recall list, so they can be put back to work once the economy rebounds.

She also said she offered to assist all those who need to file unemployment claims and prepared a packet of information about local family resource agencies.
