Ardmore, OK —

Nu Star is a company committed to teaching students about the safety of car racing.

To accomplish this, they are sending out their employees to different schools to do presentations about how and when to race your car.

Bob Rickard, Area Operations Manager for Nu Star, recently spoke to Southern Oklahoma Technology Students about car racing and how important safety is. He brought with him two other employees from Nu Star, David Stewart, contractor and Barbara Fore, operations analyst, as well as Will Carrell, whose parents own Ardmore Raceway near Springer.

Carrell said he has been racing for a long time and is encouraging students to race in a safe environment.

“You can still get the same rush you would on the streets but the only difference is, you can walk away from the race and you won’t have a ticket in your hand,” he said.

Carrell brought free passes for the students and encouraged them to visit the track.
The group brought race cars with them. They allowed the students to start them, sit in them and ask questions.

“Ardmore Raceway is a good place to race and you can have fun out there and leave it out there,” Rickard said. “You can save a lot of money you can spend on your car and not on traffic tickets.”
