Oklahoma City, OK —

Quela Knight of Lone Grove earned second-place honors in the H.O. Sargent Diversity Award area during the 82nd State FFA Convention on April 30.

Knight received her award based on her efforts to produce the first annual Lone Grove FFA Equine Play Day.

“My outlook toward diversity has broadened due to my activities,” Knight said. “I am beginning to see what an important role I have in my chapter, community and state. I want to become a leader.”

The overall purpose of the H.O. Sargent Award is to recognize success in achieving and promoting diversity in agricultural education and the FFA. This award is a modification of the H.O. Sargent Award that existed in the New Farmers of America prior to the combining of the NFA and FFA.

This award is sponsored on the state level by The Chickasaw Nation.

The 18-year-old Lone Grove FFA member is the daughter of Calvin and Breezy Knight. Her agricultural education instructor and adviser is Michael Stuckey.
