Madill, OK —

A 26-year-old Johnston County man was charged with second degree murder Wednesday in Marshall County District Court in connection with an April 24 incident that claimed the life of Christopher Lee Sellers.

Jason Dale St. Clair, Kenefic, is named in the criminal complaint. Authorities said an arrest warrant has been issued for St. Clair, identified as the driver of a 2001 Dodge pickup which allegedly rammed a 1992 model Isuzu pickup, causing the vehicle to crash into a ditch and roll over.

Based on an earlier report, the incident took place on April 24 when some individuals were spotted late at night by security workers at Buddy’s Crushed Cars, southwest of Madill on U.S. Highway 377. When confronted, the intruders reportedly fled, followed by security workers from the salvage yard. The vehicle was pursued into Madill. Information from the criminal complaint said St. Clair was driving the vehicle which rammed the pickup in which Sellers was a passenger.

The incident “involved conduct that created what a reasonable person would realize was an immediate and extremely high degree of death to another person and which the defendant engaged in with contemptuous and reckless disregard of and in total indifference to the life and safety of another, regardless of human life, although it was done without any premeditated design to effect the death of any particular individual,” according to court documents.

The matter was subsequently referred to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Assistant District Attorney Gary Brown said the charge is based on the report submitted to District Attorney Craig Ladd’s office.
