Rural Enterprises of Oklahoma, Inc. will host a free workshop on state taxes for business owners and entrepreneurs in the Durant area, according to Dr. Barbara Rackley, coordinator of REI’s Women’s Business Center.

Dewey Brandon with the Oklahoma Tax Commission, will present the program entitled “Oklahoma Tax Commission Business Tax Workshop.”  This workshop is designed to meet the needs of all business owners from new to seasoned businesses, who need to brush up on the latest tax changes, and everything in between.  The workshop is offered free of charge.

For a new business or an individual thinking about setting up a business in Oklahoma, the workshop offers information on business formation and structures, such as incorporation; a step-by-step guide to business registration; bookkeeping techniques and a line-by-line explanation of the primary business tax forms.

For an existing business, the workshop offers information on the keys to sales tax registration and collection. Participants will also learn the steps to filling out the various business tax forms and which forms and tax laws have changed, based on the latest legislative decisions.

The workshop is set for 9 a.m. until noon, Thursday, Feb. 26 at REI’s Women’s Business Center, 2912 Enterprise Boulevard, and will be held the fourth Thursday of every month.

For additional information about this workshop and REI’s Women’s Business Center, contact Dr. Rackley or Lori Smith at 924-5094 or 800-658-2823. Also, visit REI’s website at www.ruralenterprises.com.
