An Ardmore man, wanted on drug distribution charges, was netted Thursday after he tried to avoid capture by crawling out a restroom window at a local car dealership, where he had apparently been shopping for a new ride.

Sgt. Keith Ingle said John F. Fowler, 27, was captured following a brief foot pursuit. He was booked into the Carter County Detention Center on an Aug. 18 outstanding warrant charging him with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Thursday’s arrest netted him another misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana. Ingle said at the time of Fowler’s arrest, officers also seized $500 cash suspected of being drug sale proceeds.

“We got a tip he was test-driving a car in Ardmore. When he saw the first officer arrive, he tried to escape through a bathroom window at the dealership. He took off running, but by that time we were all there and he was taken into custody after a short pursuit,” Ingle said.

Fowler appeared for initial arraignment in district court Friday. He was released on a personal recognizance bond pending the outcome of the cases filed against him.
