The Ardmore Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a membership drive for May 20-21. The theme of this year’s event is “Toast of the Town,” which celebrates chamber membership.
Teams of volunteers will recruit new members during the intense two-day event. The recruitment chairs include Dave Brenner, Michelin North American-Ardmore Plant; Trish Long, Mercy Memorial Health Center and Southern Oklahoma Physicians and Hospital Organization; Keith King, First National Bank; Scott Andrews, Attorney at Law; and Tim Lynch, Hardy Murphy Coliseum.
The chairs recruited team captains who in turn recruited volunteer team members for the membership drive.
Community leaders and participants gathered for a luncheon Tuesday at the Ardmore Convention Center. Each team has adopted a name or mascot to identify their group and create a fun atmosphere. The teams arrived for lunch sporting costumes or themes that matched their identity. For example, Tim Lynch’s team — the Cowboys — arrived in western attire, complete with spurs and their signature orange bandanas. The team from Mercy Memorial Health Center arrived on Harleys with a police escort as the “Red Riders,” and it was noted that the “Pink Team” planned to feature feather boas.
The Ardmore Chamber of Commerce has promoted the Ardmore area for more than 90 years. The chamber’s mission is to provide leadership for the promotion and advancement of economic viability and the quality of life for the Greater Ardmore Area.
