In August, a disbursement of $113,638,945 in sales tax collections was returned to 505 cities and towns across Oklahoma, according to the most recent report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
This amount reflected an increase of $9,587,540 from the $104,051,405 distributed to 501 cities and towns in August 2007. The August distribution of sales tax collections by the OTC primarily represents local tax receipts from June business.
Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. Monies those companies reported this period represents sales from June 16 to July 15, in most cases.
