Woman faces shoplifting, theft charges

An area woman went to jail Thursday night after having at least one drink too many and allegedly going on a shoplifting spree at a local business.


Officers were called to the business, located in the 1100 block of South Commerce Street shortly before midnight. The own­er of the business said sev­eral items of merchandise were missing along with cash.


During the investiga­tion, officers noticed the 41-year-old suspect walk­ing in front of the busi­ness. She was arrested when she admitted she had been inside and was actually wearing some of the apparel the owner had reported stolen.


She was taken into cus­tody on pending burglary and public intoxication charges.
