An 18-year-old Ardmore man has been arrested in connection with an explosive device found in the parking lot of Northwest Baptist Church Thursday afternoon.

Sgt. Kevin Norris, Ardmore Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, said David Savage Kyker was formally arrested following interviews with investigators this (Friday) morning.

“He is being booked into the Carter County Detention Center pending a charge of manufacturing an explosive device. Once District Attorney Craig Ladd has an opportunity to review all the reports he will decide on the exact charge that will be filed. We expect Mr. Kyker will make his first appearance in court on Tuesday,” Norris said about 11 a.m. today.

Kyker became the primary target of the investigation late Thursday based on information obtained from witnesses following the discovery of the homemade device in the church parking lot. Norris said investigators believe Kyker was acting alone when he constructed the device and placed it in the parking
lot. No other suspects have been named and no one else is being sought in connection with the case.

Motive has not been established.
