Flag Retirement Ceremony scheduled

American Legion Post 65 and Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home will sponsor an American Flag Retirement Ceremony at 10 a.m. Nov. 7 at the funeral home, located at 2118 S. Commerce St.


Post 65 Commander Kent M. Tucker said members of the local organization have renewed the retirement ceremony for the proper disposal of worn and/or old flags. Anyone may retire a flag by simply bringing it to the funeral home prior to the ceremony.


The public is also invited to attend the ceremony which will include an “Old Glory” video tribute; procession of flags; invocation; Pledge of Allegiance; closing remarks; “Taps” and the removal of flags.


Refreshments will follow the ceremony.
