Veterans in the Ardmore area who need to see a doctor will be going to a new location soon. The Oklahoma City Veterans Administration Medical Center will open the Ardmore VA Outpatient Clinic at 2002 12th Ave. NW, Suite E on Oct. 1.
A contract with Mercy Memorial Health Center to provide veteran services will expire on Sept. 30. Currently, those services are provided at 921 14th Ave. NW.
The new clinic will eventually employ five individuals, according to Stacy Rine, public affairs officer for the Oklahoma City VA Center.
“Right now we have one M.D. and one L.P.N.,” Rine said. “They are both living in the Ardmore area. They will be full time. We’re going to add an R.N., a mid-level provider — which would be a physician’s assistant or a nurse practitioner — and a program support assistant. That’s an administrative person to answer the phone and set the appointments.”
Ardmore VA Outpatient Clinic will be open Monday through Friday. Although hours of operation have not been confirmed, Rine said she anticipates the clinic will be open will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The new clinic will provide primary care for routine check-ups and doctor visits. Laboratory and radiology services will also be available.
