Skeletal remains found in the Hickory Creek Wildlife Management Area are under investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the Love County Sheriff’s Department.

OSBI spokesperson Jessica Brown said the remains were found in a wooded area, 40 feet from a pipeline right-of-way.

A group of surveyors were in the area and located them. OSBI performed a crime scene investigation to collect any evidence of possible foul play.

The medical examiner’s office has been tasked with identifying the remains as well as the cause of death and the manner of death.

Brown was unable to identify any possible victims, stating the OSBI is “obviously going to look at any missing I.D. reports for the region.”

“Even then, we have to wait for the medical examiner,” she said. “Even if we have speculation, we have to wait for the I.D.”

In June, the abandoned vehicle of Jordan Buckaloo was also found in the Hickory Creek Wildlife Management area. Brown was uncertain if the vehicle was found in the same area as the remains. Buckaloo has been missing since June 19 when he was last seen leaving a party.

“There has not been much progress on the Buckaloo investigation that I am aware of,” Brown said.

Brown was uncertain on when identification would be made.
