John H. Jones, 78, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, August 30, 2010, at the hospital in Madill. He was born on January 25, 1932, in Madill to the late John Henry Jones and Goldie Williams Jones.

 

John was raised in Madill and graduated from the Madill High School in 1950. He married Veronica (Ronnie) Koelzer on April 10, 1959, in Madill. John worked at the Madill Bank & Trust for 31 years serving as a Senior Vice President before he retired. He later worked as a Marshall County Commissioner for 10 years. John was on the Board of Directors for Rural Water Corp, INCA, Earth Energy and worked with the Salvation Army. He was a member of the Grantham Baptist Church. John enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, cattle, loved all sports activities and the turtle races at the National Sandbass Festival.

 

He is survived by his wife, Ronnie Jones, Madill, Oklahoma; children, Kevin Jones and fiancé, Georgianna Geels, Madill, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jason Bates, McAlester, Oklahoma, Ryan Jones and wife, Mandy, Sulphur, Oklahoma, Nichole Bates, Madill, Oklahoma, Britt Jones, Dickson, Oklahoma, and Kaitlyn Jones, Madill, Oklahoma; great-grandson, Ty Jones, Sulphur, Oklahoma; and numerous cousins and friends.

 

John was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Deborah (Jones) Bates.

 

Funeral services will be this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Oklahoma. Interment will be at the Linn Cemetery, Linn, Oklahoma. Brian Gardner and Lyndol Adams will officiate the services. Music arranged by Allen Henry and Melinda Henry. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma.

 

Casket bearers will be Bill Self, Byron Self, Mickey Pruitt, Leonard Huffman, Mack Stafford, Bink Stafford, Gary Ayres and David Dunn.
