CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas —

Josephine Pitts, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at her residence with her family by her side.


She was born on April 7, 1920, in Laredo, Texas, to the late John Robert and Juanita (Benavides) Fasnacht. She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1938. During World War II she worked at NAS Corpus Christi. She married Andrew Pitts in Oklahoma City on April 20, 1946. She retired from CCISD after 25 years as a secretary to the principal at Wynn Seale.


Josephine was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.


She is preceded in death by her parents, John Robert and Juanita Fasnacht; her husband, Andrew Pitts; brothers, Edward Lee Fasnacht, J.R. Fasnacht, Tino Fasnacht and Joseph Fasnacht; sisters, Edmee Aldridge and Theresa Walker.


Josephine leaves behind her family to cherish her memories, her children, A. James Pitts and Joanna Pitts both of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Charlotte Ann Pitts of Rifle, Colo.; stepgrandchildren, Stephen Riley Cox of Corpus Christi, and Shelley Anne Cox of Rifle; her brother, Sam Fasnacht of Alamosa, Colo.; and other survivors including, nieces and nephews, JoLene (Bob) Bullington of Alamosa, Carol Ann (David) Dickinson, and Merlaine Smith both of Ardmore, Robert Lynn (Laura) Bullington of Alamosa, Reneé Wiggins, of Dickson, Mark (Becky) Dickinson, of Ardmore; special friends, Sonia Heil and family of Corpus Christi, and Barbara Korczynski and family, Spring Branch, Texas, Scott Dahlin, Corpus Christi; dogs, Catie, Suzy, and Lady; cats, Mia, Chiquita and Sweet Pea; and numerous other relatives and friends.


Visitation will be held today, Sept. 7, 2008, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home.


Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
