Opal Norma Pierce, of Ardmore, departed this world on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at the age of 99 years and 52 days. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 in The Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest with Pastor David Gardner officiating. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore.

 

Opal was born on Dec. 6, 1912, one of twelve children born to John Henry Williams and Addie Belle (Noland) Williams of Seminole. Opal married Lewis Allen Runnels on Oct. 1, 1932. They had three children; Johnnie Bob, Betty Lou and Jimmy Duane.  Opal married her second husband, Roy Pierce, in the fall of 1963.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; John Henry and Addie Belle Williams, husband Lewis Runnels and husband Roy Pierce.  Sisters; Juanita, Alzada, Mollie, Dora Mae, Ora and Lucille. Brothers; Odie, Otie, Oscar and Jerry. Daughter Betty Lou Trest and daughter-in-law Betty Ann Runnels. Great-grandson Christopher Allen Runnels.

 

Opal is survived by her sons; Johnnie Runnels of Ardmore and Jimmy Runnels and wife, Jeanette, of Cache. Brother Ira Joe Williams of Ardmore and daughter-in-law Shirley Runnels of Irving, Texas. Eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Runnels, Michael Runnels, Jake Adams, Jason Adams, Josh Adams, Jory Adams, and Brandin Alvarez.

 

The family of Opal Pierce will greet visitors from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 at Griffin-Hillcrest.
