Lawton, OK —

Services for the Rev. Kent William Wood, 65, will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2009, in Lawton Heights United Methodist Church with the Rev. Montie Jones officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore.


Kent was born on June 7, 1944 to LTC (RET) Billy and Joyce Ann (Sales) Wood in Okemah, Okla. He passed away on June 28, 2009 at his home in Hinton, Okla. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1962 and attended OSU, received his bachelor’s degree at Cameron University and a master’s degree in Divinity from Phillips University. He served as a pastor throughout Oklahoma and was currently pastoring the Arapaho United Methodist Church, retiring as a chaplain at Cornell Correctional Facility. He served in ROTC during college. Kent was an avid reader and a big OSU fan. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and was very patriotic to his country and home state of Oklahoma.  


Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Wood of Hinton; four children, Tony Wood and Diana of Fort Worth, Texas, Linda Peck and Max of Hunter, Okla., Brad Wood and Dawn and Tricia Magavern and Kevin of McKinney, Texas; 16 grandchildren; twin brother, Rev. Roger Wood and Susan of Ardmore and brothers, Maj. (RET) Michael Wood and Christy and John Wood and Belinda. He was preceded in death by his parents.


Visitation will be at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Hinton today from 5-7 p.m. Services are under the direction of Turner Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at turnerfuneralhomes@gmail.com.
