Graveside rites for Mary Lu Shirey, 81, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the Rose Hill Cemetery with Reverend Dan Patman and Reverend William Shirey officiating.
Born on September 17, 1927 in Ardmore, Okla. to the late Arthur Clayton and Lillian Viola Cox Cude, Mary Lu passed away on June 30, 2009 at her Ardmore residence. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald and Bill Cude; and a sister, Barbara Atkinson.
Shirey had been an Ardmore resident all of her life where she graduated from Ardmore High School in class of 1945 and then attended the Texas State Women’s College. Shirey loved gardening, crossword puzzles and golfing. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of the home; a son, Rick Shirey of Placerville, Calif.; daughter, Sheree Burkett and husband William of Houston, Texas; brother, Douglas Cude and wife Martha of Ardmore, Okla.; and a sister, Betty Sue Clarke of Ardmore, Okla.; grandchildren, Caroline Burkett, Robert Clayton Shirey and Katy Easter; numerous nieces and nephews and other special relatives.
