Funeral Services for Mrs. Dovie Mae Fowler, 89, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday Nov. 6, 2009, at Alexander Funeral Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Terry Tolbert officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.

Dovie was born June 18, 1920, in Wilson, Okla., to the late Mr. William Marion and Mrs. Alice (Pickens) Cain. She departed this life Tuesday Nov. 3, 2009, at Wichita, Kan.

Dovie was raised in Wilson attending school here. She married the late Mr. Henry Fowler Nov. 25, 1937, at Healdton on Thanksgiving Day. Henry was employed by Sinclair Pipeline Company which later became Atlantic Richfield and relocated them to Shawnee and later to Caney, Kan. in 1940. They remained in Caney, Kan. until Henry retired in 1957 and they returned to Wilson.

Dovie always was a devoted homemaker and devout Christian. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and being outdoors always having a passion for Nature. She also enjoyed singing gospel music in a singing group and always had a great love for animals. Dovie attended the Wilson Assembly of God Church.

Preceding her in death is her parents; husband Henry Fowler, April 14, 2002; son, Veneal Gene “ Sonny” Fowler, Sept. 2, 1978, at age 39; sisters, Lillie Branson, Thelma Mullins; brothers, Elzie Lee Cain, William “Bud” Cain, and Jack Olen Cain.

Survivors include grandson, Curtis Fowler of Wichita, Kan.; granddaughters, Gianna Hacker and husband Wes of Wilson, Stephanie Fowler of Marietta; sister, Edith Vernon of Rogers, Ark.; great-grandchildren Dustin Goode, Morgan Fowler, Curtis Henry Fowler, and Jacob Fowler; one great-great-grandchild, Brooklyn Goode.

Pallbearers will be Lupe Rogers, Dale Vernon, Gary Claxton, Jim Bill Tolbert, James Blakley, Wes Hacker and Billy Hacker.
