Bill E. Lewis passed away on his 83rd birthday, Oct. 25, 2009. A graveside service with military honors was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. Elder Mike Thompson of the Central Seventh-day Adventist Church in California officiated. Bill was a World War II veteran and served in the Army as a sergeant in the military police.
A faithful Seventh-day Adventist, Bill attended the Ardmore Church for 54 years. He was manager of the Southern Oklahoma Ambulance Service and continued serving for 27 years before he retired. This was the first ambulance service provided in Ardmore.
He will be greatly missed by Velda, his wife of 61 years. Bill will also be missed by his daughter, Carol Lewis; granddaughter, Angela Lewis; grandson, Nathan Lewis and his wife Vickie; and two great-granddaughters, Tiffany and Kimberly.
Bill and Velda have been residing in Elk Grove, Calif. with their daughter and grandchildren since September, 2007.
