Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Mae (Strong) Barbour, 72, of Wilson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Wilson with Rev. David Allen and Rev. Bruce Almy officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.

Nancy was born Aug. 18, 1937, at Irondequart, N.Y. to the late Mr. Robert Marsh and Mrs. Emma Adeline (Groth) Strong. She departed this life Tuesday Nov. 3, 2009, at Ardmore.

Nancy was raised in south Texas, marrying Mr. William “Bill” Barbour July 17, 1954, at Freer, Texas. They first made their home in Wilson shortly before moving to Fort Worth, Texas. They made their home in Fort Worth for several years raising their children there. Nancy was a devoted homemaker while Bill was employed with General Motors. After Bill retired, they moved back to Wilson in 1991. Nancy was very active in the Senior Citizens program in Wilson always attending their meals and baking birthday cakes and knitting baby blankets. Nancy was a very accomplished seamstress, making all of her daughters’ wedding dresses. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Peggy McCravy and Ruth Long; and one brother, Robert “Bobby” Strong.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Bill of the home; five children, Bobby Barbour and wife Zelda of Springtown, Texas, Susie David and husband Garry of Springtown, Mandy Mahaffey and husband Neil of Lebanon, Billy Barbour and wife Amy of Wilson, and Diane Heath and husband Donald of Fort Worth; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Strong and wife Beverly of Mathis, Texas and Richard Strong and wife Cynthia of Robstown, Texas; two sisters, Terry Brake and husband Jack of Fort Worth and Shirley Tow Green of Rendon, Texas; brother in law, Mike McCravy of Hurst, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends and too many chosen family members to list, but you know who you are.

Pallbearers will be Christopher David, Bobby Barbour, Jeremy Barbour, Neil Mahaffey, William Barbour, Ryan Parsley, Dot and Joshua Lowrance. Honorary bearers will be Richard Strong, James Strong, Wilbur Barbour, Stanley Welch, Jack Brake and Mike McCravy.

Family visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. tonight at Alexander Funeral Home.
