Gracie Lorene Mitchell, 88, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at the Brookside Nursing Center in Madill. She was born on December 27, 1921, in Shay, Oklahoma, to the late Charlie Luker and Vida Woods Luker.

 

She grew up in Shay and later moved to Aylesworth before moving to Cumberland where she lived her entire life. She married Raymond Eddington in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1964. Later she married Wesley William Mitchell on July 29, 1965, in Cumberland. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1998. Lorene retired in 1965 from the Madill Pants Factory after 20 years as a supervisor. She was a member of the Cumberland Baptist Church and she enjoyed gardening, crafts, making flower arrangements and she loved cooking.

 

She is survived by her children, Charles Ray Eddington and wife, Kaye, Davis, Oklahoma, Janis Lesley, Cumberland, Oklahoma, Brenda Armitage and husband, Ron, Cumberland, Oklahoma, and stepson, Raymond Eddington Jr. and wife, Joyce, Norman, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and brother, O.R. Buster Luker, Purcell, Oklahoma.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one grandson, Tony Eddington; and one son-in-law, Roger Allen Lesley.

 

Services will be Friday, September 3, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Cumberland Baptist Church, Cumberland, Oklahoma. Virgil Hill and Ron Armitage will officiate the services. Music arranged by Gwen Wilson and Lisa Cramer. Interment will be at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, Oklahoma.

 

Casket bearers will be Matthew Armitage, Kenny Eddington, Brian King, Ray Allen Hoedebeck, Jared King and David Wilson.

 

Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.

 

Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and family hour will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma.
