A come-and-go Celebration of Life will be held for Joice I. Heim of Gainesville, Texas, on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, from 2-5 p.m. Friends and family are invited to her home for the celebration located at 137 CR 148.

Joice was visiting her daughter and son, Cody and Joette Duvall of Granada, Colo., and her three grandchildren, Trail age 6, Tripp age 2 and Tryleigh Suede age 1 week, when she had an accident on her way to taking the oldest grandchild to Kindergarten due to wintry road conditions. Joice left this earth on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Ernest Ames. She is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, mother, Amie Ames; sister, Judy McGuire; brother, Jimmy Ames; her boyfriend, John Branyan; and other family and friends.

Joice loved horses and was involved in the cutting horse industry. She was self-employed with many rental properties and took pride in doing most of the upkeep herself. She was very close to her daughter, who was also her best friend, and loved her son-in-law as her own son. Her grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She also loved to spend time with her boyfriend, especially when they went dancing. Joice was a very independent, strong willed, hard working, upbeat, vibrant and loving woman who will be missed very much by those that love her.
Any contributions can be made to Granada First Responders, c/o Colorado East Bank & Trust, P.O. Box 257, Granada, CO 81041.
