Bridget Darlene (Roberts) Rhodes Hill

Bridget Darlene (Roberts) Rhodes Hill, age 53, passed away on October 20, 2011, in Ardmore, Okla. Services will be held at 2  p.m., Monday, October 24, 2011, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest of Ardmore with Pastor Jessie Ferguson officiating.  Interment will follow in Provence Cemetery, Ardmore, Okla.

 

Bridget was born on September 21, 1958, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Verdon L. Roberts and Opal Elizabeth (Richards) Roberts.

 

She was a graduate of Madill High School, Class of 1976. Bridget opened her heart not only to her children, but to others as well. Bridget attended Murray State College where she received her Associate’s Degree in Human Resource Counseling. She continued her education and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from East Central University and was working toward her Master’s Degree. In 2006, Bridget began working for Mental Health of Ardmore. She moved her employment to Southern Oklahoma Treatment Services and, when her health began to fail, she became self-employed and worked from home as a Certified Case Management and Rehab Specialist. She was always an advocate for the mentally ill.  Bridget was a published poet and enjoyed playing the piano and guitar and writing songs. She was always there to help others and taking them in.

 

Bridget was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Roberts; father, Verdon L. Roberts; two sisters, Sandra and Carol; and sister-in-law, Shirley Glenn.

 

She is survived by two sons, Dusty Rhodes and wife, Velena of Ardmore, and Josh Rhodes and wife, Julie of Ardmore; granddaughter, Lydia; brothers, Mark Roberts and wife, Rita, Charles Roberts and wife, Margie, Ronnie Roy and wife, Donna, Buddy Roberts and wife, Sharon; sisters, Linda Mitchell and husband, Greg, Patricia Crotts and husband, Jimmy; and the children she took into her heart and home as her own, Justin Roddy, Ray Roddy, Jeffrey Hunter, and Nathan Johnson.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Rhodes, Dusty Rhodes, Justin Roddy, Ray Roddy, Jason Roberts and Jeffrey Hunter.

 

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore, Okla.
