A memorial service for Freeman P. “Sonny” Galt Jr., 77, is scheduled for Tuesday at 2:00 in the Saint Philip’s Episcopal Church in Ardmore with Rev. Dawn Frankfurt officiating. Sonny was born April 22, 1932 in Ardmore to Freeman and Dorothy Dodson Galt. 

He passed this life on July 4, 2009 in a local hospital.  After growing up in San Antonio, Texas he worked as a publicist for Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles, Calif. While in California he meet Jane Sanders and they married in Gainesville, Texas on August 7, 1965. He moved to Ardmore from San Antonio, Texas 43 years ago where he was a self employed oil and gas producer. He and Jane are members of the Saint Philip’s Episcopal Church in Ardmore.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Sanders Galt of the home, one daughter Diane Dodson Galt of New York, son and daughter in law John Travis and Hadley Galt of Dallas, Texas, two grandchildren, Mary Jane Elizabeth Galt of Dallas, and Margeaux Ellyn Galt of Dallas.  Serving as pallbearers will be Truett Fore, John Coffey, Leon Simms, Ron Crosby, Jay Newman, James Clark, Arvell Pickens and Wayne Laske. Honorary Bearers will be Bob Kerr, Bill Meacham, Sam Veasey, Buddy Riesen, Stewart Smith and Arlen Fowler.
