John T. “Johnny” Watkins passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Milo Baptist Church with Mike Johnston officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

 

Johnny was born July 18, 1939, to Tom and Minnie Watkins in Graham, Okla. He was raised in the same area all his life and graduated from Graham High School in 1959.

 

He married Sue Ratliff, March 30, 1961, in Ardmore, Okla. They resided in Graham all their lives.
Johnny worked his entire life in the oilfield. He worked for Rozzell Construction, later working for Edwin L. Cox for 20 years. He worked for Citation Oil and Gas before taking early retirement in 1997.

 

He enjoyed life to the fullest with family and friends. He and Sue did a lot of traveling, and they enjoyed camping, boating and fishing. Johnny also had a great love for motorcycles. He had a great love for his family and for his Savior Jesus Christ.

 

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Susie Watkins; his parents, Tom and Minnie Watkins; sisters, Irene Watkins and Estelene Hand; and in-laws, Joe Ratliff and Hazel Melton.

 

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sue Watkins; daughters, Tammie and Steve Armstrong of Kingston, and Kim and Bob Mumford of Fox; grandchildren, Amber Simon and Chris Osuna of Ardmore, Chassi and Ian Davis of Ardmore, Alisha Owen and Brandon Lyons of Wynnewood, and Levi and Britnee Armstrong of Ratliff City; brothers, Richard and Jeanette Watkins of Fox, George and Jane Watkins of Fox, and Jimmy and Diane Watkins of Fox; sisters, Geraldine and Vernon McDaniel of Albany, Texas, Edna and Fred Rader of Henryetta, Ann and late husband, Harold Hall of Kellyville, Sue and Bob Dewbre of Graham, Edna Mae and Bruce Turner of Healdton, and Nancy and Larry Savage of Healdton; great-grandchildren, Suzie Simon of Ardmore, Connor and Caden Armstrong of Ratliff City, Emily and Colton Owen of Fox, and Hayden Davis of Ardmore; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Pallbearers will be Bobby Hand, Wayne “Bull” Watkins, Roger Watkins, Richie Watkins, and Timmy and Jeff Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy, Tommy and Gary Stubblefield, Terry Turner, Tommy and Billy Savage and John Watkins.

 

Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.
