Maynard Duane Thompson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went home to his Lord and Savior on Monday morning, June 29, 2009.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2009, at Lakeview Fellowship Church, 9940 Morris Dido Road, with Pastor Chet Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Biggers Funeral Home, 6100 Azle Ave.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to Maynard’s favorite missions, Saginaw Community Church (Laotian Mission), the Billy Graham Crusade, Samaritan’s Purse and I.A.M. Agape Mission at Lakeview Fellowship Church.
Mr. Thompson was born Dec. 23, 1936, in Wilson, Okla. In 1956, he moved to Texas, where he made his home in Parker and Tarrant counties in the years since.
He was an accomplished and creative brick and stone artist, an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
He was ordained a deacon at Centerpoint Baptist Church in Weatherford and was presently serving as a deacon and active member at Lakeview Fellowship.
He especially enjoyed making home visits with the minister.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Della Thompson; brothers, Travis, Bill and Onis Thompson; and a sister, June Giles.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Jerry Sanders Thompson; children, Randy Thompson of Fort Worth, Texas, David and Bonnie Thompson, Shane Thompson and Jeanne and Ben Crandall, all of Weatherford, Texas and Tim and Julie Thompson of Palmer, Alaska; Jerry’s children, Michael Sanders, Kenneth and Regina Sanders and David and Reta Sanders, all of Fort Worth; together they have 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Herridge of Alva, Okla.; and brothers, Carson Thompson of Fort Worth and Marlan Thompson of Tyler, Texas.
