Virgie Lucille Lemmons, 71, of Kingston, Okla., passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the Nursing Center in Madill. Funeral services will be Friday, July 3, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ with interment at the Kingston Cemetery. Chris Webb will officiate the services, and music will be arranged by Church of Christ Singers.
Virgie was born June 12, 1938, in Aylesworth, Okla., to the late Bert Lee Drain and Bessie Bula Matney Drain. She was raised in Kingston where she graduated from high school in 1956 and is a Kingston Alumni. She married Jimmy Lemmons on Aug. 15, 1959, in Gainesville, Texas.
She worked for several years as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in Madill. In 1978, she started the Kingston Tag Agency and retired in 2003. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and playing Bunco with her friends. Virgie enjoyed being with her friends and family, and she liked a good argument.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Lemmons of Kingston; son, Irwin Lee Lemmons and wife, Dianne of Rowlett, Texas; sister, Barbara Apel of Kingston; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Otis, Cleo and Amos Drain; and four sisters, Jean Capps, Jeanette Ables, Chris Spence and Louetta Davis. Visitation will be today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family hour from 6 to 7 p.m.
Casketbearers will be David Lemmons, Phillips Lemmons, Ronnie Capps, Otis Drain, Kenny Davis and Michael Frizzell. Honorary bearers are Joey Underhill, Keith Davis, Al Davis, Keith Sequra, Kevin Spence, Reggie Capps and Dennis Loper.
