Ortha Dean Anderson, age 64, passed away February 15, 2012 in Ardmore. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Jehovah Baptist Church with Reverend Ronnie Godwin officiating and Reverend Ricky McGee serving as Eulogist. Interment will follow in Hickory Cemetery.
Ortha was born on September 11, 1947 to Leo Shannon and Laura (Wright) Shannon in Ardmore. She attended school at Central School and the Graham schools. Ortha worked for Cook Laundry and Dry Cleaning. She married Gilbert Anderson in Kansas City, Mo. on June 3, 1966. They later moved to Ardmore where she worked for Stromberg Carlson and later at Elmbrook Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide for 20 plus years. She loved to fish and laugh, and will be remembered for her love of family. Ortha was a member of the Jehovah Baptist Church where she was a member of the Usher Board, Mission Board and a Deaconess, former choir member and she loved the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister; Shirley Jean Brown and brother; Tilmon Shannon.
Ortha is survived by her husband, of the home, son; Lee Anderson of Ardmore, daughter; Yolanda Anderson of Ardmore, thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, step-father; Reverend Frank Lawson, mother-in-law; Essie Lawson of Ardmore, three brothers; Earl Shannon and wife Arzelia of Ardmore, Lincoln Shannon and wife Hattie of Oklahoma City, and Clenard Shannon of Ardmore, seven sisters; Yvonne Abram and husband Edward, Willie Lee and husband Henry, Peggy Stevenson and husband James, Vernita Newton, Pamela Smith, Rae Ann Shannon, and Sandra Shannon all of Ardmore, nine sisters-in-law, seven brothers-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Warren Bank, DeSean McGee, Delky Godwin, Leo Abram, Linvil Brown and Marcus Smith. Honorary bearers are the Deacons of Jehovah Baptist Church. Flower girls are Shanita Stevenson, Monica Lee, DaMita Jackson, Ju’Nell Pirtle, Angie Herbert and De’Andrea McGee.
Family visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore.
