Services for Homer McDonald Moore of Marietta, Okla., are set for Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Turner assisted by Danny Gaither.
Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
Mr. Moore was born July 27, 1939, at Burneyville, Okla., the son of P.H. and Delia Norris Moore. He passed away Monday, August 30, 2010, at his residence in Marietta at the age of 71.
A resident of Love County all of his life, Mr. Moore worked as a conductor/brakeman for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 2000.
He and Alice Jane Gibbs were married in Marietta on December 2, 1960.
Mr. Moore moved to Marietta with his family at age 14 and graduated from Marietta High School in 1958. His hobbies included collecting and shooting guns and vacationing in the Colorado mountains. He also especially enjoyed his ham radio and was a ham radio club member. Mr. Moore was also a member of All Faith Rose Assembly in Marietta.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a nephew, Eddie McDonald Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Moore of the home; son, Brad Moore, also of the home; brother and sister-in-law, B.D. and Mary Jane Moore of Davis, Okla.; granddaughter, Britney Nicole Gane and husband, Michael; great-grandson, Jacob Gane; and many, many friends.
Serving as casket bearers will be Ray Elliott, Fred Grice Sr., David Jacobs, Gary Gannon, Roy Henderson and Winfred Sherrill. Honorary bearers are Dr. Tom O’Connor, Ronnie Porter, Charles Hilton, Ronnie Hilton, Donald Hilton, Corkey Elliott, Skeeter Wallace, Rickey Elliott, Rick Hendricks, Denny Ray Hester and Randy Hardin.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
