Betty Burris, 81, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Norman, Okla. Services will be Saturday, September 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Ardmore, Okla., with Reverend Roger Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, Okla.
Betty was born August 29, 1929, in Ardmore, Okla., to Sam and Myrtle (Cypert) Clendenin.
She married Paul Douglas ‘Doug’ Burris November 24, 1949, in Ardmore, Okla.
Betty attended and graduated from the Ardmore Schools in 1947. She worked for American Airlines at the Ardmore Airpark. She and Doug moved to Richardson, Texas, in 1966. After Doug’s retirement, they then moved to Falconhead where she enjoyed playing golf and in 1995 moved to Ardmore, where she has lived since. Betty was very active with the First United Methodist Church Clothes Closet. She enjoyed meeting with her high school graduating class. Before Doug’s passing, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Mexico. She enjoyed life, people, family and many lifelong friendships.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doug; four brothers, Carl Clendenin, Paul Clendenin, Sam Clendenin and Bob Clendenin; and one sister, Inez Anthony.
Betty is survived by two sons, Alan Burris and wife, Sharon of Ardmore and Gary Burris of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Beverly Ann Burris of Ardmore, Okla.; and one grandson, Paul Burris of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Sally Cox and husband, Cam of Houston, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Genie Clendenin of Ardmore, Okla., and Lucile Clendenin of Savoy, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
