Services for Ruthie Laverne Dawkins are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Abraham Walton Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Gene Autry.

 

Ruthie was born January 10, 1967, to the late Howard Herschel Crossland and Denzil Evans. She passed away on Sept. 1, 2010, in Carrollton, Texas.

 

She was married to Johnny Dawkins Jr. on November 19, 1999.

 

Ruthie professed Christ and was filled with the Holy Ghost at an early age and believed God on earth until he said daughter I need you home. She was a devoted wife, sister, sister-in-law and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Mrs. Dawkins is survived by her husband, Johnny Dawkins of the home; two brothers, Robert Crossland, Checotah, Oklahoma and Kenneth Crossland of Carlsbad, New Mexico; three sisters, Melva Naylor and husband, Tim of Fort Worth, Texas, Rebecca Bradshaw and husband, Billie of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Brenda Strickland of Hallsville, Texas; five sisters-in-law, Brenda Allen and Jeanette Forbes of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Alice (Albert) Jackson, Judy (James) Thomas and Priscilla Dawkins all of Denton, Texas; a special niece, Brittany of Duncan, Oklahoma; a special nephew, Logan; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Grant & Owens Mortuary.

 

Services under the direction of Grant & Owens Mortuary.
