Graveside services for Patrick F. “Pat” McDonough of Marietta, Okla. will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Officiating will be Rev. Lawrence Anderson.


McDonough was born September 7, 1934, in Boston, Mass, the son of John and Mary McDonough. He passed away Friday, July 3, at his residence in Marietta at the age of 74.


McDonough had been a resident of Marietta for the past 10 years. He and Penny Batson were married March 15, 1997, in Marietta.


McDonough was raised by foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter McCauley. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. A family counselor, McDonough earned a B.S. from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and then in 1999 an M.S. from East Central University.

He enjoyed taking care of his dog and best friend, Benji, and playing “Bookworm.” McDonough was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John McDonough and Michael McDonough.


Survivors include his wife, Penny McDonough of the home; best friend, his dog Benji; daughter, Patty Hawkes of Portland, Tenn; brother, Peter McCauley of Revere, Mass; sister, Lanore McCauley of Fort Myers, Fla.; three grandchildren, Patrick Hawkes, Justin Patterson and Heather Hargett and a great-grandchild.


Honorary bearers will be Bob Travis, Laron Dixon, Bobby Ray Spradling, Scott Chitwood, Jennifer McBride, Steven Chitwood, Bobby Wayne Spradling and Austin Hughes.


Viewing will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
