Services for Doris E Jones of Ardmore will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ardmore, with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Doris was born on July 5, 1920, in Ardmore, Okla., to Cal and Louise Shipman. She passed away on October 28, 2009.
Doris married Billy Jones on July 25, 1938, in Pauls Valley, Okla. She started her career at Daube’s Department store and retired after 15 years. After her short retirement she went to work at the YWCA for 10 years. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church. She was also an active volunteer in the community.
Doris was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching the Oklahoma Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys. Doris loved books, and enjoyed volunteering and working at the library. She loved spending time with her friends, but more than anything she loved spending time with her family, especially with her daughters and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy H Jones, her father and mother, Cal and Louise Shipman, and her brothers, Roy and Ralph Shipman.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynda McKinstry, and husband Jim of Longmont, Colo., and Karen Jameson of Boulder, Colo.; her sister, Ouida Banks of Irving, Texas; her grandchildren, Tama Anderson and her husband Eric of Little Rock, Ark., Jim McKinstry and his wife Serena of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Shana Riley and her husband Patrick of Cary, NC, Robyn Edson and husband Scott of Broomfield, Colo.; her great-grandchildren, Danika, Keggan, Tessa, and Kilton Anderson, Ashtyn McKinstry, Colton and Parker Hogy, Cooper, Adisyn, and Ivy Riley; her nephews, Roy and Ralph Shipman, her nieces, Lisa Stewart and Susan Shipman, and numerous cousins.
Pallbearers will be Jim H. McKinstry, Jim D. McKinstry, Ralph Shipman, Roy Shipman.
The Family will greet visitors on Monday, November 2, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
