Oklahoma City, OK —

Mary Coleene Hunter, 85 years, passed away at her home in Norman on July 2, 2009.  Coleene was born on April 29, 1924, to Paul and Oklahoma (Logan) Heartsill in Springer, Okla. 


Coleene was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She was a baker at the OU Commons Cafeteria and also for the Chi Omega Sorority for many years during the 1980’s. At an early age, Coleene came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and continued to live in service to Him as a life-long Baptist. Also a loving wife and mother, she spent her life devoted to her husband George and their children.


Coleene is survived by her two sons: Bobby Hunter and his wife Linda and Walter Hunter and his wife Peggy, both of Norman; five daughters: Vee Vickers and her husband Mickey of Norman, Paulette Almas of Norman, Joe Ann Perkins of Norman, Nancy Ray of Rosedale, and Elizabeth Duff and her husband Rick of Rosedale; two sisters: Nancy Sue Peoples of Arkansas and Ozell Donaldson of Springer, Okla.; 20 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George Hunter, her parents, two brothers, one sister, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.


Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009. at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
