Funeral services for Ms. Linda Kay (Russell) Lawson, 63, of Leon are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at the Assembly of God Church in Wilson with Rev. Tim Young officiating.
Interment will follow at Simon Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.
Linda was born May 3, 1946, to the late George William Russell and Parlee Delcena (Nipp) Russell in Simon, Okla.
She departed this life Monday, July 13, 2009, at her residence in Leon.
Linda was raised in Love County graduating from Leon High School in 1965. After graduation, she began working at the Marietta Sportswear factory and for several convenience stores before becoming an LPN.
She served as a nurse for over 20 years, dedicating her service to long-term nursing care. She was presently employed at Southbrook and Whispering Oaks Nursing Homes. Linda enjoyed playing bingo, sewing and reading books. She was of the Assembly of God faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Parlee Russell; sister, Linda Young; and nieces, Tressie Skiles and Shanna Benedict.
Survivors include dau-ghters, Delcena Barnes and husband Stanley of Ringling and Jackie Tadlock and Scotty Ferguson of Ringling; son, Jerry Wayne Lawson and wife Sheila of Great Falls, Mont.; sisters, Georgia Holland and husband Jerry and Martha Greer both of Eastman; brothers, Bill Russell and Joe Russell, both of Leon; six grandchildren, Heather Dutton and husband J.J., Brady Barnes, Brittany Lawson, J.T. Lawson, Halston Tadlock and Braxton Ferguson; and numerous other family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be William Russell Jr., Willie Russell, Chancey Greer, Chad Holland, Craig Dunn and Jimmy Young.
Honorary bearers will be David Stout, Jason Bone, Chris Good, Brian Kennedy and John Benedict II.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Southbrook Nursing Home or Whispering Oaks Nursing Home Activity Fund.
