St. Mary
St. Mary, Our Lady of the Rosary, Church will conduct First Communion this weekend for 16 recipients.
Those participating in the event are Anahi Acevedo, Owen Anderson, Tycie Claborn, Lizbeth and Lizette Corona, Jose’ Dominguez, Megan Llanas, Sheryl McLean, Carlos and Yanel Otero, Zachary Pratt, Hector and Hillary Rodriguez, Spencer Somerville, Troy Velasquez and Cara Wallace. Following Mass first grade parents will sponsor and serve a meal for the First Communicants and their families.
Sunday May 18 graduating seniors will be honored at 10:45 a.m. with Mass celebrated in their honor. A brunch for them and their immediate families will follow in the parish hall.
Other upcoming events include:
* Second Collection on Mother’s Day will be for “Birth Choice, a shining Beacon of Life.” Proceeds will go to the Pregnancy Resource Center of Ardmore;
* Men of St. Mary will meet May 12 in the parish hall. Social hour starts at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m.;
* Women of St. Mary will meet at 7 p.m. May 14 at the Catholic Center. Nominations for “Woman of the Year” will be accepted until May 31.
* Single women can attend the Sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary, Wichita, Kan. Exciting Live-in Vocational Retreat May 16-18. This is an opportunity to pray and work with the community and hear vocational talks. For more information call (800) 221-1807.;
* An adoption seminar is set for 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 17. Sponsored by Oklahoma Adoption Coalition and Hope Ministries the seminar is at Crosspointe Church, 2601 24th Ave. SE in Norman. Register online at www.oklahomaadoptioncoalition.org.

First United Methodist
Worshipers at First United Methodist Church in Ardmore have the option of attending one or both services offered on Sunday mornings.
Worship in the McClure Chapel starts at 8:30 a.m. Sanctuary worship is slated to start at 10:55 a.m. In between the two services is Sunday school, starting at 9:45 a.m.

First Baptist
First Baptist Church, 225 1st Ave. SW, is featuring a new prayer ministry called “Chapel of Prayer.”
Chapel of Prayer is conducted on from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and is described as “A Time, A Place and People to Pray.” Participants can pray alone, be prayed for or pray for others.
Other upcoming events at First Baptist include:
* Baby Dedication May 11 — both morning worship services will feature special parent-child dedications. Those wishing to participate or those with questions should contact Bronwen in the education office.
* Ardmore Christian Ladies’ Club will meet May 8 for a “May Day Luncheon.” The luncheon is scheduled from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dornick Hills Country Club. Cost is $9.
Dr. David Hobbs will the special luncheon speaker. Soloist Lori Lemons will perform special music and Shelly Antuna, Mercy Memorial Health Center Auxiliary Manager, will present a special feature.
* Summer clothing is being accepted at the Downtown Mission, 234 1st Ave. SW, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays.
* The Church Family Fellowship Meal on May 7 will feature ham, au gratin potatoes, black-eyed peas, salad, bread and desert for adults. The children ages 12 and under menu features pizza and desert. The meal is 5-6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Make reservations before 10 a.m. Wednesday.
* Volunteers are needed May 26-30 for Ardmore Soup Kitchen. Interested volunteers should contact Cyd Jordan at 465-8808 or 223-2414.
