Ardmore, OK —

Using an innovative way to study scripture, the Ardmore Seventh-day Adventist Church is sponsoring an art class aimed at bringing new meaning to the Bible.

Under the instruction of local artists Larry Stevenson and Merle Maxwell, a number of scripture passages are read out loud in class. Then students interpret what the scriptures means to them by sketching it on paper. The class is currently using simple pencil drawings to express their ideas. Eventually, however, the instruction will expand to include other art mediums.

The class is free and open to the public. Paper and pencils are provided.

The ongoing class meets at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays in the church, located at 828 Locust St. Those wishing to discuss details of the class should call (580) 223-1975.
