Plainview’s offensive machine churned out 478 yards and ate up most of the clock in a 35-0 win over Newcastle Friday.

The Indians (9-3) move on to the Class 3A quarterfinals and will host Berryhill next Friday.

Blake Campo ran for three touchdowns on consecutive possessions in the second quarter en route to a 236-yard game. He had 175 yards by halftime and the Indians led 21-0.

Campo credited the offensive line with giving him room to run. His scoring runs came on runs of 7, 11 and 34 yards, and he had a 58-yard run that didn’t score.
“The line did a great job. We were real focused,” he said.

The senior wasn’t the only toting the ball. Austin Carrera ran for 129 yards and two third-quarter touchdowns for the Indians.

Carrera also credited the line with “doing a great job.

“We came out fired up and ready,” he said.

Carrera scored on a 50-yard run and a 4-yard run on Plainview’s first two possessions of the third quarter.

Both teams lost scoring chances early on. Plainview’s first possession went to the Newcastle 6 before a penalty backed them up and the Indians’ field goal missed.
Newcastle took the next drive to the Plainview 17 before penalties stalled the Racers. Newcastle receiver Justin Ledford made a great catch in coverage in the end zone on a fourth down, but the touchdown was called back by a penalty.

The game was marred by penalties. Plainview had 13 for 135 yards and Newcastle had 12 for 110 yards.
