Hillsboro, TX —

Murray State experienced a cold 3-point and free-throw shooting night Monday as Hill College took a 68-55 victory in the women’s basketball season opener.

Murray State struggled to a 3-for-17 game from the perimeter and hit only 18-of-32 foul shots. Hill took 10 more 3-point shots but only connected on eight, while shooting 12-for-21 from the line.

The game saw former Murray State players Vicoria Felix and Rahshon Hodrick face their old team for the first time. Felix scored 12 points, while Ardmore’s Hodrick chipped in three.

Jessica Lyons led Hill with 24 points and picked up a technical foul in the game. Jaimee Harry led Murray State with 11, while Australian Esther Timmermans added 10.

Timmermans and teammate Jessica May, both freshmen, are from Melbourne.

Hill won the men’s game 68-64, but no statistics were available. The game marked the Murray State coaching debut for former Oklahoma State star Randy Rutherford, who coached Tulsa Central High School last year.
