Lindsay rally stops Sulphur

The fourth period was good to Lindsay on Friday night.


The Leopards got short touchdown runs from Zac Bustillos and John Pinnick in the fourth to pull away from Sulphur for a 20-8 win Friday night in a 2A first-round game.


The Leopards struggled to contain quarterback Scott Hacker, who had 182 yards on 16-of-30 passing, but Sulphur’s Mason Franks and Ty Williams each picked off Hacker.


The Bulldogs tied it at 8 late in the second period when Williams ran 47 yards for a touchdown. He then threw to Dillon Dilbeck for the extra two points.


Jake Bowen opened the scoring for Lindsay with a 66-yard reception from Carson Tate. Tate caught the 2-point pass from Hacker.


Williams rushed 17 times for 65 yards, but the Lindsay defense held Chris Turrobiartes to 6 yards on 7 carries.


Sulphur finished 6-5.
