Tish still has playoff dream

Tishomingo has one win ... and there’s still hope.

“There’s still an outside chance we could make the playoffs,” coach Mark Patterson said. “We just have to keep plugging away and try to reach our goal.”

To reach that goal, Tishomingo (1-7, 1-4 District 2A-4) will have to beat Marietta tonight and get some help. If Tish wins its last two games (vs. Marietta, at Coalgate) and if both Coalgate and Atoka (each 2-3 in district) split their last two, it’s a three-way tie for fourth place.

Granted, to tie, Tishomingo has to win by large margins.

One can dream.

“I hope we’ll go out and play well to put ourselves in a position to play for a tie should Coalgate beat Atoka this week,” Patterson said.

If Marietta (2-6, 1-4) wins tonight, Tishomingo can kiss that longshot goodbye. Marietta isn’t far off Tish’s trail, only seven points behind in points scored this season.

Both teams have quality running backs. Senior Alec Testerman has been a workhorse for Marietta while junior Seth Parrish eclipsed 100 yards against Atoka last week.

Tishomingo beat Marietta 28-0 last season.
