Springer improves to 3-1 mark

Freshmen Josh Smith and Quan Brown were up to the challenge again.


Smith scored 18 and Brown 15 to lead Springer to a 74-34 win over OSD on Tuesday.


Springer (3-1) played without junior standout Reggie Vlorie, who was battling an illness.


Springer had five players score in double figures and held OSD to single-digit scoring in each of the first three periods.

Turner 53 Milburn 38
BURNEYVILLE — Trailing 25-22 at the break, Turner gained its composure to hold Milburn to 13 second-half points.
After halftime, the Falcons (2-1) cut their turnovers from 13 to seven and outscored Milburn 31-13.
Jorge Guardiola led all scorers with 19 points, Gary Clifton had 17 and seven steals and Michael Carango logged 13 points and 13 rebounds for Turner.

GIRLS
Springer 58   OSD 28
SULPHUR — Kanielle Wilson scored 15 points, as the Cardinals evened their record to 2-2 with a win over the Indians.
Alejandra Huerta and Ashlie Frasier each scored 12 for Springer, which led 28-11 at halftime.

Turner 54 Milburn 44
BURNEYVILLE — Conner Harmon and Hannah Stevens each turned in double-doubles as Turner used a 13-2 first quarter to remain undefeated.
Harmon, a freshman, scored a game-high 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, and Stevens posted 11 points and 15 boards.
Turner (3-0) led 30-14 at halftime before Milburn cut the lead to eight entering the fourth quarter.
Sarah Patton led Milburn with 18 points. Taylor Foster added seven for the Falcons.
