If Wilson wants to complete its already amazing season with a playoff berth, it’s going to have to beat A-4’s finest.
The Eagles (3-5, 3-4) host Maysville tonight on Senior Night in the first of two troublesome games to finish the season. No matter the outcome of tonight’s game, the Eagles, who are currently sixth in the district, will have to play unbeaten Ringling next week.
Maysville’s no joke, either. The Warriors (4-4, 4-3) have won three of four — including a 54-26 win over Waurika.
Waurika beat Wilson 20-12 last week, handing the Eagles their third consecutive loss. Maysville beat Wilson 38-22 last season.
“Looking at Maysville, they really look good on film. They’re a full force right now,” Wilson coach Bob Richmond said. “We’re kinda making these our playoff games right here.”
Wilson is far removed from a playoff appearance, but well past where they were last season ... or the last two seasons combined.
“We’ve struggled the last few years,” said Richmond, who considers the Eagles season a success. “Realistically, we were looking at winning two or three ball games.
“We’ve made some progress since the last year or two.”
