Nine Plainview club runners taste victory

The Plainview Track Club had many compete in the YES Athletics Oklahoma Cross Country Championships on Saturday.


And nine of them won.


Intermediate runners Colby Thompson (21:55) and Catherine McMurry (23:40) won their 5,000-meter races for Plainview on a windy and foggy morning. They were just two of 17 club runners who qualified for the National YES Athletics meet Dec. 5 in Brentwood, Tenn.


Robert Torres and Jessica Woods won their 4,000-meter youth division races in 15:33 and 16:58, respectively. PTC took the top three spots in the girls race with Mary Latimer second at 18:09 and Katie Lackey third at 18:31.


Jerren Bowden (15:38) and Emily Sherry (18:04) won 4,000-meter sub-youth races. Jackson Daube was second to Bowden by 17 seconds, and Caroline Sherry (20:25) and Abbie Feliciano (20:32) took third and fourth in girls.


Madi Grey won the midget girls division, running the 3,000-meter course in 15:06. Blake Barnes was third at 15:11.


Other PTC winners included Morgan Barnes in bantam girls (18:44, 3,000 meters) and Cason Dillon in primary boys (9:25, 2,000 meters). Bryce Smith (13:13) and Casey Keys (14:00) were second and third in the 3,000-meter bantam boys contest.
