Former Ardmore standout Domanique Godwin drained a 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds left late Thursday as the Murray State Aggies edged out the Western Oklahoma State Pioneers 79-76 to cap off the night of Homecoming.

Western rallied from 12 down at the half to tie the game with 17 seconds remaining before Godwin’s heroics.

Murray State (5-4, 1-0 Oklahoma Community College Athletic Conference) stormed out to a 15-1 advantage early and held on despite foul trouble down the stretch. With only eight players, depth always appears to be a question for the Aggies. Someone forgot to tell the Aggies that, though.
With Brandon Jackson and James Harris fouling out in the second half, coach Randy Rutherford’s team gutted out an impressive win over the 8-1 Pioneers.

Murray State’s Laron Buggs led all scorers with 31, and June Carter added 21. Godwin managed 8.

Marcus Nelson led Western with 23.

TISHOMINGO — Western jumped out to a 37-34 halftime lead, but the Aggies (4-2, 1-0 OCAC) didn’t panic and continued a steady pace with stingy defense to outscore the Lady Pioneers 51-30 in the second half.

Reyshawn Johnson and Amanda Frontino led all scorers with 17 apiece for Western. Atoka freshman Megan Moore paced the Aggies with 16, followed by Kaci Morrison and Chalissa Council bucketing 13 each.

Freshman player Shayla Rose of Kingston was crowned Homecoming queen by king June Carter.
