Brien Thorstenberg of the Ardmore Development Authority is heading to Muskogee, where he will become director of business and economic development for the Port of Muskogee.
In his new role, Thorstenberg will lead the Port’s recently expanded business development effort which includes management of the City of Muskogee’s economic development program.
“My family and I are excited about moving to Muskogee,” Thorstenberg said. “The city and county offer a tremendous amount of opportunity in the area of economic development.”
Prior to his tenure with the Ardmore Development Authority, from 2003 to the present, Thorstenberg served as a manufacturing extension agent with the Oklahoma Alliance for Manufacturing Excellence.
“Brien brings a wealth of experience in every aspect of economic development and an impressive record of success to Muskogee,” said Port Director Scott Robinson. “We’re fortunate and very pleased to have added someone of Brien’s caliber to Muskogee’s team.”
Thorstenberg holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Thorstenberg currently serves as secretary of the Governor’s Economic Development Team and treasurer of the Oklahoma Economic Development Council. He also serves in an advisory role on a variety of boards and committees, including the Oklahoma Bio-Sciences Technical Committee and the Oklahoma Sensor Alliance.
“Brien has been an integral part of our program, he has left his mark on Ardmore, and we will miss him,” said Wes Stucky, Ardmore Chamber of Commerce president. “However, we are excited for him and wish the best in this new endeavor.”
